What is it?

PhysioArc’s Fall Prevention Program has been developed to assist with reducing fall risk in the aging population. We offer fall risk assessment and balance training.

Why is it important?

While our balance tends to decline after the age of 40, it’s essential to recognize that falling doesn’t have to be an inevitable part of aging. Fall prevention holds numerous significant benefits, particularly for older adults and individuals with balance or mobility issues. Falling comes with the risk of severe injuries, such as fractures and head trauma, which can have long-lasting and even fatal consequences. By enhancing overall stability and coordination, fall prevention programs contribute to increased confidence and a sense of well-being. They also support the preservation of independence and the ability to perform daily activities without assistance, maintaining a higher quality of life.

Who is it for?

Our program is accessible to all, and no referral is necessary. You may find this program particularly beneficial if you:
• Are above the age of 40
• Have experienced one or more falls as a result of declining balance
• Experience feelings of instability or lack of confidence in your mobility
• Are interested in preserving your independence and vitality as you age

How does it work?

Our Fall Prevention Program begins with a balance assessment, conducted by a qualified Physiotherapist, to evaluate your risk of falling. Following your assessment, your Physiotherapist will create a tailored care plan designed to help you achieve your specific goals. This care plan will consist of a comprehensive 6-week balance training program. Regular re-assessments, conducted every 6 weeks, will gauge your progress and determine whether additional training is recommended.
