Our pelvic floor physiotherapy services are provided by physiotherapists with additional specialized training in pelvic health. This area of physiotherapy focuses on the muscles, ligaments, and connective tissues that support the bladder, bowel, and reproductive organs. These muscles play an important role in bladder and bowel control, core stability, sexual function, and support for the pelvic organs.

Pelvic floor physiotherapy may help with:

  • Urinary incontinence (leaking with coughing, sneezing, exercise, or urgency)
  • Frequent or urgent urination
  • Pelvic organ prolapse or pelvic pressure
  • Pelvic pain
  • Pain with intercourse
  • Pregnancy-related pelvic pain
  • Postpartum recovery
  • Abdominal separation (diastasis recti)
  • Tailbone (coccyx) pain
  • Difficulty with bladder or bowel control

Your first visit includes a discussion of your symptoms, health history, and goals, along with an assessment of posture, breathing, and core function. With your consent, a gentle internal pelvic floor muscle assessment may be performed to better understand muscle strength, coordination, and relaxation. Internal assessments are optional.

Treatment may include pelvic floor muscle training, relaxation techniques for tight muscles, education on bladder and bowel habits, core and breathing exercises, manual therapy, and guidance on safely returning to daily activities or exercise.
